Insert a control bound to a secondary data source
When you add a data connection to your Microsoft Office InfoPath 2003 form that receives data from a Web service, database, Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services site, or XML document, InfoPath creates a secondary data source in your form. You can then insert controls that are bound to the fields and groups in that secondary data source.
- In design mode, place the insertion point where you want to insert the control.
- On the View menu, click Data Source.
- In the Data source list in the Data Source task pane, click the secondary data source you want.
- Right-click the field that you want to bind the control to, and then click the control you want to insert on the shortcut menu.
Notes
- The values associated with a secondary data source cannot be saved when a user fills out a form, although they can be submitted to a Web service using a submit data connection. In addition, you cannot edit the properties or structure of the fields and groups associated with a secondary data source, nor can you specify default values or custom, noncode-based data validation for those fields.
