Insert an ink picture control
You can create an ink picture control on your form that lets people who are using Tablet PCs draw images when filling out the form. Ink picture controls are bound to fields.
Insert an ink picture control (automatically create the data source)
You can have Microsoft Office InfoPath 2003 automatically create the data source when you insert ink picture controls (as well as other controls). If you do this, InfoPath creates a field in the data source that is bound to the ink picture control.
- In design mode, place the insertion point where you want to insert the ink picture control.
- If the Controls task pane is not visible, click More Controls on the Insert menu.
- In the Controls task pane, select the Automatically create data source check box.
Note If the check box is unavailable, the form's design does not allow the data source to be automatically created. You must insert an ink picture control that is bound to an existing field or to a field that you create.
- Under Insert controls, click Ink Picture
- By default, an empty ink picture control is inserted into the form. Depending on your needs, you can use a background picture instead. This allows users to draw directly on top of the picture with their tablet pen.
- Right-click the ink picture control, and then click Ink Picture Properties on the shortcut menu.
- Under Binding on the Data tab, select the Use a background picture check box.
- In the Insert Picture dialog box, click the picture that you want.
Insert an ink picture control (bind to an existing field)
- In design mode, place the insertion point where you want to insert the ink picture control.
Note If you are binding the ink picture control to a repeating field, the control must be inside a repeating table or repeating section.
- If the Data Source task pane is not visible, click Data Source on the View menu.
- In the Data Source task pane, right-click the field that you want to bind the ink picture control to, and then click Ink Picture on the shortcut menu.
Note If Ink Picture is not on the shortcut menu, make sure that the field has a picture data type.
Security Ink picture controls are not a secure method of collecting and storing user signatures. If you want to collect and store signatures on your form, it is recommended that you use digital signatures.
