Insert a list control
When designing a form, you can insert list controls, which automatically format text into lists as users type into them.
Insert a list control (automatically create the data source)
You can automatically create the data source for a list control when you insert the control into a form. If you do this, Microsoft Office InfoPath 2003 creates a repeating field that is bound to the list control.
- In design mode, place the insertion point where you want to insert the list control.
- If the Controls task pane is not visible, click More Controls on the Insert menu.
- In the Controls task pane, select the Automatically create data source check box.
If the check box is unavailable, the design of the form does not allow the data source to be created automatically. You must insert a list control that is bound to an existing field or a field that you create.
- Under Insert controls, click Bulleted List, Numbered List, or Plain List, depending on the type of list control that you want to insert.
- If you inserted a numbered list or bulleted list control and you want to specify the formatting for the text in the control, click the list control, and then click Bullets and Numbering on the Format menu. In the Bullets and Numbering task pane, click the format that you want.
- If you want to test the list control, click Preview Form on the Standard toolbar.
Insert a list control (bind to an existing field)
- In design mode, place the insertion point where you want to insert the list control.
- If the Data Source task pane is not visible, click Data Source on the View menu.
- In the Data Source task pane, right-click the field that you want the list control to be bound to, and then click Bulleted List, Numbered List, or Plain List on the shortcut menu, depending on the type of list control that you want to insert.
If none of these options appear on the shortcut menu, double-click the field and make sure it is a repeating field, and that it has a text or rich text data type.
