Allow trusted forms to access files and settings on your computer

You can specify whether you want to allow trusted forms to access files and settings on your computer. Trusted forms are forms that are either installed on your computer or digitally signed with a trusted root certificate, and have a security level of Full Trust.

When you install a form on your computer, you automatically enable the form to access files and settings on your computer. A digitally signed form that you did not install on your computer, however, cannot automatically access files and settings on your computer. To enable such access for a digitally signed form, you must change the security setting for all digitally signed forms.

Security  To help protect the security of your computer and data, use caution when you install forms or allow forms to access files and settings on your computer. You should install or open forms only from trusted sources, and you should question messages, attachments, or files that you receive from unexpected sources. If a file has an unusual file name, time stamp, file name extension, file size, or other property, do not open the file.

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. Under Security options in the Options dialog box, select or clear the Allow fully trusted forms to have access to files and settings on my computer check box.
