Add placeholder text to a control

You can add placeholder text to the controls in your form that instruct users on how to fill out your form. An example of placeholder text might be "Click here and type."

Note  This option is available only for text box and rich text box controls.

  1. In design mode, right-click the control for which you want to add placeholder text, and then click Control Properties on the shortcut menu.
  2. In the Control Properties dialog box, click the Display tab.
  3. In the Placeholder box, type the text that you want to display in the control.
