- In design mode, place the insertion point where you want to add a picture.
- On the Insert menu, point to Picture, and then click From File.
- In the Insert Picture dialog box, locate the file for the picture that you want to add, and then click Insert.

- Click the arrow next to the Insert button, and then click Link to File.
Note You can link to the following types of picture files: Joint Photographic Experts Group (.jpg), Graphics Interchange Format (.gif), and Portable Network Graphics (.png).
- In design mode, place the insertion point where you want to add a picture.
- On the Insert menu, point to Picture, and then click Clip Art.
- In the Search for box in the Clip Art task pane, type a word or phrase that describes the type of clip that you want, or type all or part of the clip's file name.If you do not know the exact file name of a clip, you can substitute wildcard characters for one or more characters in the file name. Use the asterisk (*) as a substitute for zero or more characters in a file name. For example, *letter.jpg will find Urgent letter.jpg, Special letter.jpg, and Letter.jpg. Use the question mark (?) as a substitute for a single character in a file name. For example, ?etter.jpg will find Letter.jpg, but will not find Urgent letter.jpg and Special letter.jpg.
- To narrow your search, do one of the following:
- To limit search results to a specific collection of clips, click the Search in arrow, and then clear the check box next to each collection that you do not want to search.
- To limit search results to a specific media type, click the Results should be arrow, and then clear the check box next to each type of clip that you do not want to find.
- Click Go.
- In the results box, click the clip that you want to insert it.
Note When designing a form, you can also insert a picture control. Like rich text controls, picture controls allow users to insert pictures into a field when they are filling out a form.
