Modify view properties
Each view in a form has a set of properties associated with it. In design mode, you set these properties by using the View Properties dialog box. For example, you might specify a background color for a particular view or specify print settings, such as page orientation and print range.
- In design mode, click Manage Views on the View menu.
- In the Views task pane, click the view whose properties you want to modify, and then click View Properties.
- In the View Properties dialog box, do one of the following:
- On the General tab, click the Background color arrow, and then click a background color.
Note To remove the background color, click the Background color arrow, and then click Automatic color.
- On the General tab, select the Use a background picture check box.
- In the Add a background picture dialog box, click the picture you want to use, and then click OK.
- Select any additional options that you want for tiling or positioning the picture.
Note To remove the background picture, clear the Use a background picture check box.
Change settings for layout width
By default, InfoPath inserts layout controls, such as sections and repeating tables, and layout tables at a width that matches that of the printed page. By specifying a custom layout width, you can change the width at which these items are inserted in the form.
- On the General tab, select the Use a custom layout width for this form check box.
- In the Custom layout width box, type a value, and then click a unit of measure in the list.Be careful not to choose a custom layout width that is wider than the printable area in your form. To quickly see how wide your printed page is
— and whether or not controls and tables will fit on the page — click Page Width Guide on the View menu. When you click this command, a dashed vertical guide appears on the right side of the form area. This guide indicates the right margin of the printed page.
Set text formatting options for controls
- In the Apply settings to list on the Text Settings tab, click the type of control you want to format, and then select the text formatting options you want to apply. Repeat this step for each type of control you want to format.
Note These text settings affect the appearance of all controls in the view. To change the formatting of an individual control, select the control in the form, and then use the commands on the Format menu.
Show or hide the view from users
- To make the view available to users, on the General tab, select the Show on the View menu when filling out the form check box.
Note This option is available only if the form has two or more views. If the default view is the only available view, no choices will appear on the user's View menu.
- To hide the view from users, on the General tab, clear the Show on the View menu when filling out the form check box.
- On the Print Settings tab, select the options you want for page orientation, headers and footers, number of printed copies, and print range.
For help on an option, click Help.
- On the Page Setup tab, select the options you want for default printer, paper size and source, and margins.
For help on an option, click Help.
Note If you specify a default printer that a user doesn't have access to, InfoPath will use the default printer and print settings for that user's computer.
Change the designated print view
- In the Select an existing view to use when printing this view list on the Print Settings tab, click the view you want.
