About the InfoPath workspace
Regardless of whether you are filling out or designing a form, the Microsoft Office InfoPath 2003 workspace is divided into two main areas; the form area and the task pane area. The form area appears on the left side of the screen and the task pane area appears on the right.
The form area is the large open area on the left side of the InfoPath workspace. When a form is open, it appears here. This is the area where form designers insert controls into a form and users type information into a form.
By default, the task pane area is the area located to the right of the form area, but it can be repositioned, resized, or closed according to your preference. Task panes typically contain commands for certain InfoPath features, such as spell checking, text formatting, and control insertion, but they can also contain instructional text, hyperlinks, or galleries for items such as clip art. Form designers can add custom task panes to their forms, so that users can view and work with form-specific content, such as command buttons and data catalogs. Task panes provide a simple way for users to complete tasks with their forms in full view.
Note Depending on the form and whether you are filling it out or designing it, different task panes may be available to you at different times.
