Impairments

Owning Palette: Digital

Use the VIs on the Impairments palette to add several types of baseband impairments to digital signals.

Palette Object Description
MT Add AWGN

Generates zero-mean complex additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) with uniform power spectral density and adds it to the complex baseband modulated waveform.

MT Add Phase Noise

Models and applies common sources of phase noise present in communications systems components. This VI creates phase noise by first generating white noise and then applying a 1/f (inverse f) filter to specify the noise shape. The output of the filter is scaled such that the generated noise density is equal to the specified offset frequency. The phase component of the input signal is then modulated by the filtered noise.

MT Apply IQ Impairments

Applies various I/Q impairments to the complex baseband modulated waveform.

MT Add MultiTone

Generates a multitone waveform and adds it to the complex baseband modulated waveform, returning a signal-plus-tones waveform. You can use the tones-added signal to test transmitter interference rejection.

MT Generate Fading Profile

Generates a user-specified Rayleigh or Rician fading profile for the complex baseband waveform. Call the MT Apply Fading Profile VI to apply the generated profile to a baseband I/Q waveform. You can use this VI for modeling Rayleigh and Rician fading profile distributions using Gans and Jakes models for characterizing flat-fading channels and time-varying frequency selective-fading channels.

MT Apply Fading Profile

Applies a fading profile to fade the complex baseband modulated waveform. The faded waveform can be used to test receiver immunity to fading channels.
