Edit Salesperson Commission Rates

Overview

Order Entry allows you to calculate commissions on either the sales amount or the margin.

  • You set the commission-tracking method on the Processing Options tab of the O/E Options form.

  • You enter commission rates with salespersons' records in the Accounts Receivable program.

  • You can enter item category commission rates in Inventory Control.

Note: The program uses salesperson commission rates only if the item's category commission rate is 0(zero) percent.

For each salesperson, you specify the number of commission rates, a commission percentage for each commission rate, and the range of sales amounts to which each rate applies. For example, a salesperson might be paid 2 percent commission on the first $10,000.00 of sales, and 5 percent on sales over $10,000.00.

You can change rates at any time. However, the new rates and rate ranges will have no effect on amounts that have already been accumulated since the commissions were last cleared.

Note: You edit salesperson's commission rates in Accounts Receivable.

To edit salesperson commission rates

  1. Open Accounts Receivable > A/R Setup > Salespersons.

  2. Select the salesperson that you want to edit.

  3. On the Commission tab, select the Paid Commissions check box if necessary.

You can turn the Commissions option on or off, or change any of the commission rate information.

  1. Select the number of commission rates in the drop-down box.

  2. Click Save to record the changes.
