Velocity Filter Settings

The Velocity Filter Settings options are used to configure the parameters for the velocity filter. Because the raw velocity data can change because of noise, jitter, or feedback quantization noise, a velocity filter is applied automatically to the reported velocity data. The velocity filter calculates an average velocity based on a specific time interval or travel distance, whichever comes first. In other words, when the axis is moving slowly the average velocity is calculated using the specified time interval and when the axis is moving fast enough, average velocity is calculated using the specified travel distance. Changing these values changes the time/distance used for calculating the velocity data. Also, you can disable the Filter Distance by entering 0. Entering 0 for Filter Time disables the velocity filter and allows you to read the raw velocity data.
