Creating New Device Settings Files

Complete the following steps to create a new device settings file:

1. Launch Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX).
2. Expand Devices and Interfaces in the configuration tree.
3. Expand NI–Motion Devices, and then expand the item for the appropriate motion controller.
4. Right-click Default xxxx Settings.
5. Select Initialization Settings»Change Current Settings.
6. Right-click anywhere in the Initialization Settings dialog box and select Create New Settings.
7. Type a name for the settings file.
8. Make sure the new settings file is selected in the Initialization Settings dialog box, and click Change to make the new settings active.
9. Work through the MAX navigation items for the device, and set up the appropriate initialization and configuration settings for the motion controller.
10. Click Save to save the new settings to the MAX database, and then click Initialize to download the settings to the controller.
