Insert a check box
You can create a check box in your form so users can easily and accurately enter true or false values. Check boxes are bound to fields.
Insert a check box (automatically create the data source)
You can have Microsoft Office InfoPath 2003 automatically create the data source when you insert check boxes (as well as other controls). If you do this, Office InfoPath 2003 will create a field in the data source that is bound to the check box.
- In design mode, place the insertion point where you want to insert the check box.
- If the Controls task pane is not visible, click More Controls on the Insert menu.
- In the Controls task pane, make sure the Automatically create data source check box is selected.
Note If this check box cannot be selected, the form's design does not allow the data source to be automatically created. You must insert a check box that is bound to an existing field or to a field that you create.
- Click Check Box.
- To change the value stored in the data source when the check box is cleared or checked, double-click the check box, and then click the values you want in the Value when cleared
list and the Value when checked
list.
Note By default, the field the check box is bound to contains the value "FALSE" when the check box is cleared and "TRUE" when the check box is checked.
Insert a check box (bind to an existing field)
- In design mode, place the insertion point where you want to insert the check box.
Note If you are binding the check box to a repeating field, the check box must be inside a repeating table or repeating section.
- If the Data Source task pane is not visible, click Data Source on the View menu.
- In the Data Source task pane, right-click the field you want the check box to be bound to, and then click Check Box on the shortcut menu.
Note If you do not see Check Box as a choice on the shortcut menu, click More. If you still do not see Check Box, make sure the field does not have a rich text or picture data type.
- To change the value stored in the data source when the check box is cleared or checked, double-click the check box, and then enter the values you want in the Value when cleared box and the Value when checked box.
Note By default, the field the check box is bound to contains the value "FALSE" when the check box is cleared and "TRUE" when the check box is checked.
The binding is correct.
The control may not function as expected because of a potential binding problem. To identify the potential problem, right-click the control, and then click More Details on the shortcut menu.
