- On the View menu, click Manage Views.
- In the Views task pane, select the view whose properties you want to modify, and then click View Properties.
- On the General tab in the View Properties dialog box, click the arrow next to the Background color box, and then select a background color.
You can specify the default width of new layout controls and tables for views in your form.
- On the View menu, click Manage Views.
- In the Views task pane, select the view whose properties you want to modify, and then click View Properties.
- On the General tab in the View Properties dialog box, type a value in the Layout width box, and then select a unit of measure from the list.
Set text formatting options for controls
You can set text formatting options for supported controls in the current view. These options will also apply to any new controls you insert into the current view.
- On the View menu, click Manage Views.
- In the Views task pane, select the view whose properties you want to modify, and then click View Properties.
- In the View Properties dialog box, click the Text Settings tab.
- In the Apply settings to list, select the type of control you want to format, and then select the text formatting options you want to apply to the controls. Repeat this step for each type of control you want to format.
Note Text settings you apply here affect the appearance of controls in the entire view. To change the formatting of an individual control, select the control, and then use the commands on the Format menu.
If you create custom views, you can choose whether they are available to users filling out the form by showing or hiding them on the user's View menu.
- On the View menu, click Manage Views.
- In the Views task pane, select the view whose properties you want to modify, and then click View Properties.
- On the General tab in the View Properties dialog box, select the Show on the View menu when filling out the form check box to make this view available to form users.
Note This option is only available if the current form has two or more views. If the default view is the only available view, no choices will appear on the user's View menu.
You can create custom print settings for the current view. These options do not affect printing when in design mode; they only take affect when a user prints the form when filling it out.
- On the View menu, click Manage Views.
- In the Views task pane, select the view whose properties you want to modify, and then click View Properties.
- In the View Properties dialog box, click the Print Settings tab.
- In the Select an existing view as the default print view for this form list, select the appropriate view.
- Under Orientation, do one of the following:
- To specify normal printing as the default for this view, select Portrait. When printing a form with portrait orientation, the paper is taller than it is wide.
- To specify sideways printing as the default for this view, select Landscape. When printing a form with landscape orientation, the paper is wider than it is tall.
- Under Headers and footers in the Header text box, type descriptive text that will be displayed in the top margin of the page when a user prints the form.
- In the Footer text box, type descriptive text that will be displayed in the bottom margin of the page when a user prints the form.
