Split or merge table cells

Select the cell or cells that you want to split.
On the Table menu, click Split Cells.
In the Split Cells dialog box, select the number of columns or rows you want to split the selected cells into.

Show Merge multiple table cells into a single cell

Select the cells you want to merge.
On the Table menu, click Merge Cells.
