Import a document

You can import any file created in a program that is installed on your computer, and that can be printed from that program. When you import a file, the file is saved in Tagged Image File Format (TIFF) or Microsoft Document Imaging Format (MDI) file format to a location on your computer's hard disk and opened in Office Document Imaging.

  1. On the File menu, click Import.
  2. To change the file format or location for the imported document, click Preferences.
  3. In the Look in list, click the drive, folder, or Internet location that contains the file you want to import.
  4. In the folder list, locate and open the folder that contains the file.
  5. Click the file, and then click Import.

Caution  The Microsoft Office Document Image Writer print driver is installed with Microsoft Office Document Imaging and is used to import documents. Do not delete or uninstall the Microsoft Office Document Image Writer print driver from your computer.
