Microsoft Office Document Image Writer Properties dialog box

Use this dialog box to change the file format and location for files that you import in Microsoft Office Document Imaging. Importing is especially useful to create a quick copy of a file, maybe for adding annotations and reviewing. When you import a file, the file is opened and then saved in the file format, (either Microsoft Document Imaging Format (MDI) or Tagged Image File Format (TIFF)), and in the location you choose.

Option Description
Output format Select the file format you want the new file saved in.
  • Select the MDI - Compressed Document Format option when you want the final document to be saved in color or grayscale. However, this option results in a larger file size.
  • Select Compress images in the document if you want a smaller file size (with degraded image quality.) Clear this option to retain original image quality but larger file size.
  • Select the Tiff - Monochrome Fax option for a smaller file size and when you want the file saved in Black and White.
