What happens when you receive an invitation?

Anyone who uses Windows Messenger on Windows XP can invite you to use Remote Assistance, Whiteboard, or Application Sharing with them—unless you are in a corporation and the network administrator has turned these features off.

In the conversation window, you will receive a message that reads something like this: "Frank Lee is inviting you to start using Application Sharing. Do you want to Accept (Alt+T) or Decline (Alt+D) the invitation?"

If you click Accept, the Sharing window will open on your computer and on the computer of the person who invited you. If you click Decline, the person who invited you will receive a message indicating that the invitation was declined.

* Notes

  • For application sharing, only the person who is sharing the particular application needs to have it installed.
  • You can send and receive invitations to use Remote Assistance, Whiteboard, or Application Sharing only with a person who has a computer running Windows XP.
  • Sending invitations will not work if either you or your recipient is in a corporation where these features have been turned off by the network administrator.
