Viewing a microcontroller's memory contents and option settings


To view a ST microcontroller's memory contents and option settings:

  1. Make sure that the ST microcontroller is plugged into the programming socket
  2. Make sure that STVP is correctly configured for the connected ST microcontroller by following the instructions given in Configuring ST Visual Programmer.
  3. To view the ST microcontroller's Program memory, Data memory and Option byte contents, click All tabs in the Read menu (or press the alt button). You can now view the read information by clicking on the appropriate tab at the bottom of the main window.
  4. To view the ST microcontroller's Program memory, Data memory or Option byte contents individually:
    1. Click the appropriate tab at the bottom of the main window.
    2. Click on Current in the Read menu (or press the alt button).
  5. To view a selected area of the ST microcontroller's EPROM, FLASH or EEPROM:
    1. Click the appropriate tab at the bottom of the main window.
    2. Click on Address Range... in the Read menu (or press the alt button). The Address Range dialog box opens.
    3. Select the area you want to view either by selecting it from the Valid address ranges are list, or entering its start and end addresses in the Start @ and End @ fields.
    4. Click on OK.
  6. To view selected sectors of FLASH memory click the Program Memory tab, then click on Active sector(s) in the Read menu (or press the GENERATE/iread11.gif button).
  7. The memory contents are now read and displayed in the Display area.

     

    TIP: Press the ESC key to abort the reading device process.
