Digital Filter Design Basics (Digital Filter Design Toolkit)

Before using the LabVIEW Digital Filter Design Toolkit to design a digital filter, you need to obtain an overview of the general design process and application areas of digital filters.

When you design a digital filter, you begin by creating specifications that define the characteristics you want in the digital filter. You can design both FIR and IIR filters with specific filter attributes, and you can customize the sampling frequency, filter specifications, and design method. After you design a digital filter, you need to analyze the characteristics of the digital filter by evaluating the magnitude and impulse responses, phase responses and group delays, or poles and zeroes. The Digital Filter Design Toolkit provides the Filter Analysis VIs to help you evaluate the characteristics of a filter.
