Wildcards

 

Wildcard characters can be used when conducting a search.

 

The Wildcard in GPComplete is the asterisk character  * .

In advanced search the Wildcard character is  % .

 

The Wildcard when used in conjunction with other characters will match all patterns.

Example:
If you input '12*' against the patient medicare in a patient search form, the search result will include all patients whose medicare number starts with '12'

Example:

If you input '1*2' against the patient medicare in a patient search form, the search result will include all patients whose medicare number starts with '1' and ends with '2'

Example:

If you input '*12' against the patient medicare in a patient search form, the search result will include all patients whose medicare number ends with '12'

Example:

If you input '*' into the patient search form, the search will include all patients in the system.

This is why it will prompt with the warning:
