Allergies

The allergy node displays the allergy information of the patient.

To add an allergy right click on the grid and select add. This will open a window where you can search for the drug.

Adding an Allergy

You can either search allergy by drug name or by class. Searching by drug name will give a list of drugs while searching by class will give a list of substance class. Search for a drug by typing in a part of the name or class. Double click the drug.

You can assign allergy in three ways.

  •  trade name
  •  generic
  •  class

Assigning an Allergy

Assigning Allergy

  1. Trade name - Assigning allergy to a particular trade name will give a warning about the allergy during prescribing only for that particular brand.
  2. Generic - Assigning an allergy to a particular generic drug will give a warning only while prescribing that particular generic drug.  Other salts of that drug will not be flagged in the warning.
  3. Class - Assigning allergy to a class will give the widest interaction warning as it will interact with the particular generic drug and all generics in the same substance class. Where ever possible PMSC recommends selecting Class for an allergy.
