The scanner component supports scanning of multiple pages for a single patient.

It also supports multiple sets of patient data in one feed to the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder)

This is done by separating the different patient files with a blank page.

The blank page must account for the difference in the quality of paper, scanner resolution etc, so the tolerance of the

system can be changed.

Higher tolerance makes it easier for the system to recognize the blank page.

Lower tolerance means a paper with minimal information on it will still be considered a data page and not a blank page.

Scanning preferences are set by the administrator and applied to all users. A user may change the scanning options for a

given session but the values will revert to what has been set by the administrator when a new sessions starts. This will

help in ensuring that files are not scanned in at very high resolutions and thereby reduce clogging up of disk space.
