HotKeys

The software has the ability to set up hot keys for specific functions.

There are two types of Hotkeys in GPComplete.

1. Global Hotkeys

2. Form Specific Hotkeys

There are four global Hotkeys which are fixed and can't be changed.

  1. View Appointment - F2
  2. Patient Search - F3
  3. Message Retrieve - F4
  4. Log Off - F5

The global Hotkeys are displayed in the panel at the bottom of the screen.

Global Hot Keys

These hot keys will be displayed on the bottom of the screen automatically if there are no forms open in the main window.

If any form is opened, then the specific user hot keys for that form that have been set up by an individual user are then displayed in the panel.

The F8 key is used to toggle between the global hot keys and the active form hot keys.  For this reason the F8 key can't be used for assigning hot keys to any new form. (F1 and F10 are also excluded from use in setting hotkeys.)

Form specific Hotkeys can be varied by every user in the system.

To set up user specific hot keys for a form, you will be required to open the form first.

Next click on the Key icon which is found in the bottom left hand corner of the screen to display the list of available hot keys.

If the form allows hot keys to be set up for it, then the hot key setup form will be displayed on the screen.

With the help of the mouse, select the action you want to set the hot key for, and then type in any hot key or a combination of keys (Ctrl-Shift-R) you want to set for the action. Two actions in a form cannot have the same hot key assigned. The function keys F1, F8 and F10 cannot be used to specify hot keys. If you want to delete any hot key, select the row for the action whose hot key you want to delete and hit delete from the keyboard. The hot key will revert to 'None'.

After you have assigned your hot keys to the form click on the save button. The hot keys for the form will now be displayed on the bottom panel whenever the form is in focus. To go back and forth between the system hot keys and the form hot keys please use the F8 key.

Hotkeys are not a global setting and therefore will need to be setup for every computer that you are using.

You will not be able to use F1, F8 and F10 for setting hot keys.
