Displaying project properties

Project properties information can help you organize your Windows Movie Maker projects. The different project properties, both preset and ones you specify, let you quickly search for and find specific projects you create in Windows Movie Maker through My Computer or Windows Explorer. By entering project properties, you can organize your projects according to title, author name, or other project property values you choose or enter.

The following information is displayed in the Project Properties dialog box.

Title

Displays the title of the current Windows Movie Maker project. No title is entered by default. However, you can enter a title that fits your project. The title you enter becomes the title for your final saved movie, which is displayed by many media players when the movie is played back. The maximum number of characters for the title is 128.

Author

Displays the name of the author for the current Windows Movie Maker project. The default author name matches the author name displayed in the Default author box of the Options dialog box. However, you can enter a different author name for your project if you choose. The author name you enter becomes the author name for your final saved movie, which is displayed by many media players when the movie is played back. The maximum number of characters for the author is 128.

Duration

Displays the duration of the current Windows Movie Maker project in the form of hours:minutes:seconds.hundreths of a second. This lets you quickly determine the length of your project and final saved movie.

Copyright

Displays copyright information for the current project. You can enter any applicable copyright information about the current project. The copyright information you enter is displayed by many media players when the movie is played back. The maximum number of characters for the copyright is 14.

Rating

Displays any rating information for the current project. You can enter a rating for this movie according to your own criteria. The rating you enter becomes the rating for your final saved movie, which is displayed by many media players when the movie is played back. The maximum number of characters for the rating is 20.

Description

Displays any description you may enter for the current project and final saved movie. The description you enter becomes the description for your final saved movie, which is displayed by many media players when the movie is played back. The maximum number of characters for the description is 512.

  • The project properties you enter can be seen by anyone who has access to your final movie because the project properties become the properties for your saved movie as well. Therefore, do not enter any personal information in the Project Properties dialog box that you do not want others to see.
