For more information on the use and syntax of a specific FTP prompt command, click the command in the list below. The description includes the command syntax. Parameters in italics are optional and should be included only when appropriate. If you leave out a parameter when you type a command, FTP prompts you for the required information.

FTP does not recognize these commands without an open FTP connection.

Note:

Local paths follow the same conventions as NTFS, HPFS, CDFS, POSIX, or DOS. Paths on the FTP server can follow different conventions, depending upon the system.
