Transferring Files Using the Get Command (File Menu)

The Get command on the File menu lets you copy files from the FTP server to your PC.

To transfer files using the Get command:

  1. In the FTP server directory window, select the file(s) that you want to copy to your PC.
  2. On the Options menu, select the file-transfer type. Select ASCII Transfer for text files, Binary Transfer for image files, or Auto to have FTP detect the file-transfer type.
  3. On the File menu, click Get.
  4. In the To box, type the destination. If the directory, file name, and path contain spaces, put quotation marks around them.
  5. Click OK.

If you do not specify a name for the local copy, or if you are copying multiple files, FTP uses the file names as they appear on the FTP server. If you do not specify a path, FTP uses the current directory on your PC.

Note:
You can also use the standard Windows Explorer drag and drop feature to transfer files.
