Naming Files

Invalid file names

Most FTP server systems follow naming conventions different from those used in DOS, FAT, or VFAT. FTP server file names often start with a period (.) or include characters such as a period in the file name. When you try to copy these files to your PC, FTP creates valid FAT file names if the Create Valid Local Filenames check box is selected on the General tab of the Preferences dialog box. This applies only to FAT drives.

Case sensitivity and the FTP command line window

When you use the put or send commands, you may need to change the case of the local PC files.
