How to pause and resume a named instance of SQL Server (Service Manager)

To pause and resume a named instance of SQL Server

1. In the Server box, select the name of the server and the named instance of Microsoft® SQL Server™ 2000, or type the name of the remote server.
   
   
2. In the Services box, click SQL Server.
   
   
3. Click Pause, and then click Start/Continue.
