Managing Security

To ensure that data and objects stored in Microsoft® SQL Server™ are accessed only by authorized users, security must be set up correctly. Security elements that may have to be set up include authentication modes, logins, users, roles, granting, revoking, and denying permissions on Transact-SQL statements and objects, and data encryption.
