Use the Enterprise Manager to add a SQL Server to a SQL Server group. Do the following.

  1. Click Enterprise Manager in the Microsoft SQL Server menu. The menu path is StartProgramsMicrosoft SQL Server.
  2. Click the + to expand the node labeled Microsoft SQL Servers in the Console Root pane.
  3. Click New SQL Server Registration from the pop-up menu accessed by right-clicking on the SQL Server Group node in the Console Root pane. As a result the Register SQL Server Wizard window is displayed. Click Next.
  4. Select a server from the list of available servers and click Add. Click Next.
  5. Use the default Windows Authentication. Click Next.
  6. Accept the default. This adds the server that you selected to the default server group called SQL Server Group. Click Next. Click Finish. A dialog is displayed saying that the registration has been completed.
