Installation

This describes the installation of SQL Server client tools on a Windows XP system. Do the following.

1. Insert the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition CD into the drive.
2. Click on SQL Server 2000 Components.
3. Click on Install Database Server.
   NoteA warning dialog will appear. Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Enterprise server component is not supported on this operating system. Only client components will be available for installation.
4. Use the default name for the computer (local computer).
5. Use the default action (Create a new instance of SQL Server or install Client Tools).
6. Enter your name.
7. Enter 25-digit CD-key.
8. Accept the default list of components to install.
