Step 9: Specifying Installation Settings
The Installation Settings screen lets you specify how the web-deployed version of the HostExplorer product installs on an end user’s machine.
To change the installation settings:
- In the Program Files Installation Type list, select one of the following options:
- All Users—Applies the installation settings to everyone using the computer.
- Per-User—Applies the installation settings to one user only.
- In the Component Installation list, select one of the following options:
- Install All Components on First Access—Downloads all required code modules to the end user’s machine as soon as they click the session link.
- Install Components on Demand—Downloads only essential code modules when an end user initially clicks the session link. Additional code modules download automatically when the end user accesses particular features.
Note:
This feature is not available if you select HostExplorer Window in Step 4: Specifying Auxiliary Files and Deployment Settings.
- In the Installation Path Type list, select one of the following options:
- Use Default Installation Path—The web-deployed HostExplorer product is installed on the end user's machine in the Hummingbird\Connectivity\Web Deployment directory where the program files are installed.
- Prompt User for Installation Path—The end user is prompted to browse to an installation directory on their machines.
- Use Specified Installation Path—Enables the Path box in which you can specify a directory where the web-deployed HostExplorer product is to be installed on the end user's machine.
- In the Settings Path Type list, select one of the following options:
- Use Default Settings Path—The files which contain the specified HostExplorer product settings are installed on the end user's machine in the Hummingbird\Connectivity\Web Deployment\Organization directory where the user files are installed.
- Use Specified Settings Path—Enables the Path box in which you can specify a directory where the HostExplorer product user files will be installed on the end user's machine. See Replacers for a list of replacers that you can use to specify the installation path.
Note:
There can be only one user settings path for each organization. If you want different deployment projects to use separate user settings paths, assign each project a unique organization name.
- If desired, select Create Shortcut, and then specify or browse to a location for the shortcut.
Click Next to specify metering settings.
