Change title, captions, and labels

You can change the title of the PivotTable list, the field names, the names of items within fields, and names of total fields. The changes you make don't affect the source data.

1. Click Commands and Options on the PivotTable list toolbar.
2. Do one or more of the following:

   Change the title bar text or the caption of a drop area

   1. Click the title bar of the PivotTable list.
   2. Click the Captions tab in the Commands and Options dialog box.
   3. In the Select caption list, select the element whose caption you want to change.
   4. In the Caption text box, type the new title or caption.

   Change the caption of a field, fieldset, or custom group field

   1. Do one of the following:
      • To change the caption of a field, click the field.
      • To change the caption of a fieldset, click a field that belongs to the fieldset.
   2. Click the Captions tab in the Commands and Options dialog box.
   3. In the Select caption list, select the element whose caption you want to change.
   4. In the Caption text box, type the new title or caption.

   Change the caption of an item property

   1. Click the field to which the item property belongs.
   2. Click the Item Properties tab in the Commands and Options dialog box.
   3. In the Item properties list, click the property whose caption you want to change.
   4. In the Caption text box, type the new title or caption.

   Change the caption of an item or custom group

   1. Click the item or custom group whose caption you want to change.
   2. Click the Captions tab in the Commands and Options dialog box.
   3. In the Caption text box, type the new title or caption.

Note   If you don't want a caption for the selected item, clear the Caption text box.
