Add, edit, or delete data
If you can't add, edit, or delete data in a PivotTable list, it means one of the following:

- The underlying table does not have a primary key.
- Click a cell in the blank row marked with an asterisk (*).
- Type the data you want in the first field, and then press TAB to move to the next field.
- Do one of the following:
- Press ENTER to save the record and move to the next record.
- Press ESC to leave the record without saving it.
- Click the cell that you want to edit.
- Type the new value.
- Do one of the following:
- Press ENTER to save the record and move to the next record.
- Press ESC to leave the record without saving it.
- Do one of the following:
- To delete the contents of a cell, click the cell and press DELETE.

Notes
- When entering data for a field that has a number format applied to it, you need not type formatted data. When you leave the cell, the format will be automatically applied to the cell contents.
- Only detail cells can be edited directly in the PivotTable list. To change a caption or the title, use the Commands and Options dialog box.
