Tab "File" | Previous Top Next |
The File menu basicly allows you to launch the different types of formats, which are supported by ePSXe. Below is a list of these and what each of them actually does and when you should use them :
Run CDROM
This option will start the emulator with the PSX CD you inserted into the configured drive (see Choosing and configuring the CD plugin for more infos). By the way, ePSXe doesn't make a difference between backed up CDs and original PSX CDs.
Run ISO
An ISO is a 1:1 copy of a CD, just that it's stored on your HD. This means that you'll get faster access times and better loading times (highly recommended for games reading frequently from the CD). ePSXe supports CDRwin ISOs (.bin) and CloneCD images (.iso).
RUN PS-EXE
This option is mostly meant for developers or demo programmers who want to try ePSXe with the demos (these are NOT demos of PSX games, but rather technical demos !) floating around on the net.
Run BIOS
Allows you to execute the BIOS only, which does about the same as starting the PSX without inserting a PSX CD. You can access the memory card manager and the CD player from here.
Change Disc >
Option for games coming on several discs like Metal Gear Solid 2 or the Final Fantasy games. Doesn't always work, so make sure to save your game before using it.
Exit
Closes the emulator.
None of the options will work before you haven't configured all of the emulators options. For further infos on how to configure it, make sure to check out the Getting started section in this help file.
