Synchronize Security Settings

Use the Synchronize Security Settings function to copy the permissions for one company database to another company database. For example, if you have many companies, you can create permissions within one company database and use it as a template when creating other company databases.

To copy permissions from one company database to another, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Synchronize Security Settings button Synchronize Security Settings Button from the Server Manager toolbar. The Synchronize Security Settings dialog box appears.

  2. To duplicate existing permissions settings, select the Copy security settings option button.

  3. To re-apply permissions to all groups/roles in a company without selecting them individually, select the Apply object permissions option button.

  4. Select the company database from which you want to copy permissions.

  5. If you are copying a company’s payroll database permissions, select that database from the Payroll box.

The roles and role members for either the company database or payroll database you selected appear in the Database Roles and Role Members section of the dialog box.

The available company databases to which you can copy permissions appear in the Copy To list box.

  6. Select the company database to which you want to copy the permissions.

  7. Alternatively, click All to select all company databases in the list box or None to clear any company databases already selected.

  8. Select Remove Roles and Members to remove the existing roles and members within the company database to which you want to copy new permissions, roles and role members.

  9. Click OK. The Status tab appears and displays Server Manager’s progress as it copies the permissions.

  10. When finished, click the General tab to do more copying or click Cancel to exit the dialog box and return to the Server Manager main window.
