Restore a Database

TRAVERSE Server Manager

Restore a Database

To restore a database, follow these steps:

In the left column of the main window, right-click on TRAVERSE or any company database.

  1. Select Restore Database from the right-click menu. The Database Restore dialog box appears.

  2. In the Database combo box, select or enter the company database you want to restore. You can select any company database, company payroll databases, as well as the System (SYS) and main Payroll (ST) databases.

  3. Select the type of restoration you want:

  • Database - complete -- restores all database files including the transaction log.

  • Transaction Log -- restores only the transaction log of the selected database.

  1. The default path where the backup file is stored appears in the Source text box. This location was selected when Microsoft SQL Server was installed. Should you need to locate the file, use the Browse button to search for it.

  2. Select or enter the backup file name.

Note: A naming convention should be established for your backup files.

  3. Click Verify to have Server Manager check the file and make sure it’s a real backup file. If the file is not a real backup file, and you don’t verify that prior to clicking OK, an error message appears and the restore stops.

  4. Click the Misc tab to view the detailed content of backup media if any exist. If you chose to append your media, you can use the Misc tab to view cumulative backup information.

  5. Click OK. As the restoration progresses, the percent completed appears in the Message box.

  6. When finished, 100 percent restored appears in the message box and the following message box appears: “Restore Completed.” Click OK.

  7. Select another database to restore or click Cancel to exit the dialog box and return to the Server Manager main window.
