Export text or pictures
Export text to a new Microsoft Word document
- Select the pages or text that you want to export.
- On the File menu, click Send Text to Word, and then select the option you want.
-
Click OK.
Microsoft Word starts, and the selected page or text is copied to a new Word document.
Notes
- If no text has been selected, the Current selection option is disabled.
- You cannot export text from a document until OCR has been performed. If OCR has not been performed, a dialog box appears, allowing you to run OCR immediately.
Copy text to an existing document
- Select the text by dragging the mouse.
- Right-click the selection and then click Copy Text on the shortcut menu.
- Switch to the program into which you want to paste the text, and then use that program's paste command.
Note You cannot copy text until optical character recognition (OCR) has been performed on the document.
When you drag the mouse to select text in Microsoft Office Document Imaging, only the words within or touching the selection rectangle are selected. If you hold down the ALT key while dragging, Office Document Imaging selects all scanned text that appears between the first and last words in the selection, whether or not the words lie within the selection rectangle.
If the page you are copying has a simple layout, such as a single column of type, the text is copied in a linear string, similar to the way it was originally entered. If the page is more complex — with embedded pictures and multiple columns, for example — this technique is not recommended.
- Select the picture or artwork by dragging the mouse.
- Right-click the selection and then click Copy Image on the shortcut menu.
- Switch to the program into which you want to paste the picture or artwork, and then use that program's paste command.
