Advanced Scan Settings dialog box
Option | Description |
---|---|
Resolution | Specifies the dots-per-inch resolution for the
current preset.
This sets the number of dots per inch scanned from your original
document. Selecting a larger number will make finer detail visible, but
will create larger files and may take longer to scan.
Note Documents scanned at resolutions greater than 900 dots per inch will be converted to 900 dots per inch if Auto contrast, Save as monochrome, Auto rotate, or Auto straighten is selected. |
Type | Specifies the amount of information to record for each pixel to be scanned for the current preset. The options 24 bit color and 8 bit gray record more detailed information about an image than does Monochrome, but they create larger files and may take longer to scan. |
Auto contrast, save as monochrome | Creates high-contrast images for optimum optical character recognition (OCR). After scanning by using the selected scan type, the resulting file is saved in 1-bit monochrome, resulting in a smaller file size. This option can be helpful when scanning for OCR those documents with background colors or colored text. |
