Configuring SCXI Modules

To configure an SCXI module, complete the following steps:

  1. In the SCXI Chassis Configuration window, click Details next to the desired module. You also can configure the module without opening the SCXI Chassis Configuration window. In the configuration tree, expand the chassis and right-click the module you want to configure and select Properties.

If you are using a remote RT target, expand Remote Systems, find and expand your target, and expand the chassis. Right-click the module you want to configure and select Properties.

The Module Configuration window opens with the following tabs:

    Jumpers (1100, 1120/D, 1121, 1140 only)

The contents of the device settings tab vary by module. Input values are based on the jumper settings of the module. The following list describes the contents of the tab based on module.

    • SCXI-1100—Filter settings.

    • SCXI-1120/D—Filter and gain settings.

    • SCXI-1121—Excitation current, excitation voltage, filter, and gain settings.

    • SCXI-1140—Gain settings.

Device settings vary by channel on the SCXI-1120/D, SCXI-1121, and SCXI-1140. All channels are set to default values unless you change them. To change values by channel, select a channel number from the Channel drop-down listbox and set the values.

Refer to your module documentation for more information on jumper settings.

    Accessory

In the Accessory selection box, select the accessory attached to the SCXI module. The tab appears only if terminal blocks can be connected to the module.

If the accessory supports software configuration, the Configure button is enabled. Click Configure to see accessory options. Refer to your accessory documentation for more information.

For IEEE 1451.4 transducer electronic data sheet (TEDS) sensors and TEDS-compatible accessories, after you configure the device and add the accessory, click Scan for TEDS. To configure TEDS sensors cabled directly to a device, right-click the device and select Configure TEDS.

    Cabling

Click the Cabling tab to set up the following SCXI module settings:

    • Which device connects to this module?—Select a detected DAQ device from the drop-down list. The selected device can be different from the module digitizer.

    • Module Digitizer—Select a detected DAQ device from the Module Digitizer drop-down list. The value defaults to the cabled device selected in the SCXI Chassis Configuration window. You should typically only change the default value if you are operating in parallel mode.

    • Digitization Mode—Select either Multiplexed or Parallel mode.

      • Multiplexed—Select the index of the SCXI chassis of the module in a multichassis configuration. You can daisy-chain up to eight SCXI chassis.

      • Parallel—If the cabled device has more than one connector, select the range of digitizer channels corresponding to the connector. Digitizer channels 0–7 are selected by default.

  2. Multichassis Daisy-Chain Index—Select the index of the SCXI chassis of the module in a multichassis configuration. You can daisy-chain up to eight SCXI chassis. This setting appears only if two or more SCXI chassis have been configured.
  3. Click OK in the Module Configuration window when you are finished.
  4. Click OK in the SCXI Chassis Configuration window.
Note  Refer to Configuring SCXI Switch Modules for information on switch module configuration.
