Advanced search conditions
Conditions are limitations you set on the value of a file property in an advanced search to make it more specific. Each type of property, such as text or date, has a set of relevant conditions that advanced search displays automatically so that you can choose one to configure your search. Here are the conditions that you can set for each type of property, along with some example settings.
Conditions for text properties
- is (exactly)
The property text exactly matches the value you are searching for.
Example: "Title is (exactly) Annual Company Report"
- includes
The property text contains the text you are searching for.
Example: "Title includes report"
Conditions for date properties
- on
The date matches the value you specify.
Example: "Creation date on March 3, 2000"
- on or after
The date matches, or comes after, the value you specify.
Example: "Last modified on or after September 15, 1999"
- on or before
The date matches, or comes before, the value you specify.
Example: "Last modified on or before September 1, 1999"
- today
The date matches the current date.
Example: "Creation date today"
- tomorrow
The date matches tomorrow's date.
Example: "Due date tomorrow"
- yesterday
The date matches yesterday's date.
Example: "Creation date yesterday"
- this week
The date is sometime this week.
Example: "Last modified this week"
- next week
The date is sometime next week.
Example: "Due date next week"
- last week
The date was sometime last week.
Example: "Last printed last week"
- this month
The date is sometime this month.
Example: "Last printed this month"
- next month
The date is sometime next month.
Example: "Due date next month"
- last month
The date was sometime last month.
Example: "Created last month"
- includes
The file name either includes the text you specify or is exactly the same as the text you specify.
Example: "File name includes report"
Conditions for numeric properties
- equals
Exactly matches the value you specify.
Example: "Number of lines equals 10"
- not equal to
Does not match the value you specify.
Example: "Number of pages not equal to 1"
- more than
More than the value you specify.
Example: "Number of pages more than 10"
- less than
Less than the value you specify.
Example: "Number of pages less than 100"
- at least
Matches or exceeds the value you specify.
Example: "Number of pages at least 10"
- at most
Matches or is less than the value you specify.
Example: "Number of pages at most 10"
Conditions for yes/no properties
- is yes
Has the value "yes."
Example: "Reviewed is yes"
- is no
Has the value "no."
Example: "Finished is no."
