Note This setting determines which characters appear on the screen as you type. It does not change the language setting of your keyboard.
Microsoft Office Word 2003 and some other Office 2003 programs can automatically detect and switch between alphabetic and Hangul input modes based on keystrokes. To turn on this setting in an Office program, click AutoCorrect Options on the Tools menu, and then select the Correct keyboard setting check box.

Hangul Hanja converter
By using the Hangul Hanja converter, you can convert text in a document from Hangul to Hanja or from Hanja to Hangul. The converter is available in Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003, Microsoft Office Publisher 2003, and Microsoft Office Word 2003.
Convert Hangul to Hanja or Hanja to Hangul
- Enable editing for Korean.
- Select the Hangul or Hanja you want to convert.
- Do one of the following:
- In PowerPoint or Publisher, click Hangul Hanja Conversion on the Tools menu.
- In Word, point to Language on the Tools menu, and then click Hangul Hanja Conversion.
- In the Hanja Suggestions or Hangul Suggestions box, click the conversion you want, and then click Change.
Select Hangul and Hanja conversion options
- Enable editing for Korean.
- Select Hangul or Hanja you want to convert.
- Do one of the following:
- In PowerPoint or Publisher, click Hangul Hanja Conversion on the Tools menu.
- In Word, point to Language on the Tools menu, and then click Hangul Hanja Conversion.
- Click More to expand the dialog box.
- Click Options.
- Select the options you want.
You can convert Hangul or Hanja automatically as you type by first saving the text as an AutoCorrect entry.
Hanja dictionary
By using the Hanja dictionary, you can view detailed information, such as the pronunciation, meaning, and the number of strokes for Hanja in a document. The dictionary is available in Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003, Microsoft Office Publisher 2003, and Microsoft Office Word 2003.
Find Hanja in the Hanja dictionary
- Enable editing for Korean.
- Type the Hangul for the Hanja you want to look up, and then select it.
- Do one of the following:
- In PowerPoint or Publisher, click Hangul Hanja Conversion on the Tools menu.
- In Word, point to Language on the Tools menu, and then click Hangul Hanja Conversion.
- Click Hanja Dictionary
