Adding User Phrase
To streamline the typing task, the User Phrase Tool offers three ways to add new phrases.
- On the Edit menu, select Insert. Or click the first cell in the Phrase column in the table and enter a new phrase.
- After completing input, press ENTER. The User Phrase Editor will automatically display the phonetic symbols in the Phonetic column. To modify the phonetic symbols, click on the phonetic character and make your modification.
- To add more phrases, repeat the steps above. (Or click the second cell in the Phrase column in the table and so forth.)
- Once a new phrase is inputted, the associated (2-4 characters) shortcut will be generated by the Shortcut column automatically. When using the Phrase input function, you can use the Leading Key and the shortcut to input the phrase.
Tip: A new phrase must contain two to nine characters, and non-Chinese fonts or symbols are not allowed.
If you need to create a large number of new phrases, it is recommended that you create a text file (*.TXT), put a single new phrase in one line, and separate the text and phonetic symbols for each phrase. If you do not enter the phonetic symbols, the user phrase tool will automatically add them. Follow these steps to import new phrases:
- Save the new phrases in a text file (*.TXT).
- Open the User Phrase Tool window and select Import on the File menu.
- Find and select the text file. Then click Open. New phrases will then be imported into the user phrase library.
Tip: Among the new phrases you add or import, gray color refers to the original phrases in the IME; blue indicates new phrases; red marks the phrases you have modified in the program.
Note: Since the New Quick IME and the New ChangJie IME use the same user phrase library, accessing the User Phrase Tool in the New Quick IME will open the New ChangJie IME User Phrase Tool window and the IME will be switched to the Microsoft New ChangJie IME automatically.
