Show or hide drop areas

When the drop areas are hidden and the PivotTable list does not have a field in the row, column, data, or filter area, you can't drag fields to these areas.

  1. In the design window, make sure the PivotTable list is activated. For instructions, see Help for your design program.
  2. On the toolbar in the PivotTable list, click Commands and Options Button image, and then click the Behavior tab.
  3. Select or clear the Drop areas check box.

Note  You will not see the drop areas if the PivotTable list is not bound to a data source.
