Add, edit, or delete detail data

The properties on the Protection tab of the Commands and Options dialog box have been set to prevent additions, edits, or deletions.

The field you are trying to edit is a read-only field, and does not support edits.

The underlying table does not have a primary key.

Click a cell in the blank row marked with an asterisk (*).
Type the data you want in the first field, and then press TAB to move to the next field.
Do one of the following:
- Press ENTER to save the record and move to the next record.
- Press ESC to leave the record without saving it.

Click the cell that you want to edit.
Type the new value.
Do one of the following:
- Press ENTER to save the record and move to the next record.
- Press ESC to leave the record without saving it.

Do one of the following:
- To delete the contents of a cell, click the cell and press DELETE.
- To delete a record, click the leftmost cell of the record, and then press DELETE.
- To delete multiple records, click the leftmost cell of the record, drag the mouse pointer to the last cell of the last record, and then press DELETE.

Notes

When entering data for a field that has a number format applied to it, you need not type formatted data. When you leave the cell, the format will be automatically applied to the cell contents.
Only detail cells can be edited directly in the PivotTable list. To change a caption or the title, use the Commands and Options dialog box.
