LANSA Communication Set Up

4.1.2 Configuring the Listener

LANSA for Linux Installer creates the configuration file {lansa_root}/listen.dat for the Listener during installation. If you do not specify a port number for the installer, port number 4545 is used.

For example, if you install LANSA for Linux to the directory /lansa, the file /lansa/listen.dat will be created with the following content if you do not use the port option for the installer:

* LANSA Communication Listener Record File
* Comma Delimited, positional parameters.
* Empty parameters must have at least one space.
* Record Types (first character)
*   L   listener information
*L,Threads,NotUsed,NotUsed,Trace,TCPPort,Compression,Algorithm,Mode,Options,Features,LogonTimeout,AppMode
L,1,-,-,0,4545,1,NON,0,1,0,10,0

If you use the port option for the installer, the port number you provided will be written to the configuration file instead. See the installation guide for Linux for more information about the installer and its options.

If you need to customize any settings for the Listener after installation, you can edit the configuration file with a text editor. Most of the settings are simple to change by following the remarks in the configuration file.

For advanced users, alternatively, you may copy the configuration file to Windows and use the LANSA Communications Administrator to modify it. After the modification, you can then copy the configuration file back to the Linux server. Reminded you may need to preserve your current listen.dat for the LANSA for Windows installation and replace it back after modifying the configuration file for Linux.
