SI Read from File VI
Owning Palette: Utilities VIs
Installed With: System Identification Toolkit
Reads arrays or waveforms from a specified data file. Use this VI to read spreadsheet text files and waveforms data files.
Place on the block diagram | Find on the Functions palette |
file path (dialog if empty) specifies the path to the file from which this VI reads data.
file type specifies the type of the source data file. You can specify a Spreadsheet Text File or a Waveforms Data File.
sampling rate specifies the sampling frequency in hertz. The value of sampling rate must be greater than 0. sampling rate is ignored if the file type is a waveforms data file.
error in describes error conditions that occur before this VI or function runs.
The default is no error. If an error occurred before this VI or function runs, the VI or function passes the error in value to error out. This VI or function runs normally only if no error occurred before this VI or function runs. If an error occurs while this VI or function runs, it runs normally and sets its own error status in error out. Use the Simple Error Handler or General Error Handler VIs to display the description of the error code. Use error in and error out to check errors and to specify execution order by wiring error out from one node to error in of the next node.

first channel returns the data from the first waveform in the record if the file type is Waveforms Data File. If the file type is Spreadsheet Text File, this VI converts the data array to a waveform based on the sampling rate you provide.
all channels returns the data from all waveforms in the record if the file type is Waveforms Data File. If only one waveform exists in the record, this output is identical to the first channel output. If the file type is Spreadsheet Text File, this VI converts the data array to an array of waveforms based on the sampling rate you provide.
error out contains error information. If error in indicates that an error occurred before this VI or function ran, error out contains the same error information. Otherwise, it describes the error status that this VI or function produces.
Right-click the error out front panel indicator and select Explain Error from the shortcut menu for more information about the error.
