Message Signal/Information Signal

The message signal, or information signal, contains the data for transmission. The message signal is used to modulate the carrier wave to create the modulated wave for transmission. The message signal data is recovered from the modulated wave by a process of demodulation.

The message signal is often referred to as the baseband signal.
