Translation Tables.

The Translation Tables dialog contains the following items:

  • A list box of defined translation tables.
  • The Add translation table... button.
  • The Edit translation table... button.
  • The Delete translation table... button.
Adding a translation table.

To add a new translation table:

  1. Tab to the Add translation table... button and press Enter.
  2. You will be prompted to give your translation table a name, so type one in then Tab to the OK button and press Enter.
  3. A new dialog box will appear containing the following items:
    • A list box containing default values for each supported character code.
    • The Edit character... button.
  4. Select the character you want to redefine in the list then Tab to the Edit character... button and press Enter.
  5. You will be prompted to enter a new description for this character value. You could type in an individual alphanumeric or punctuation symbol, or a descriptive phrase. Tab to the OK button and press Enter when you're done.
  6. Once you've defined all of the characters that you want to change from their default values, Tab to the OK button and press Enter. You will be returned to the Translation Tables dialog box and your new table should have appeared in the list box.
Editing a translation table.

To edit an existing translation table:

  1. Select the table you want to edit in the list box.
  2. Tab to the Edit translation table... button and press Enter.
  3. A new dialog box will appear containing the following items:
    • A list box containing the defined values for each supported character code.
    • The Edit character... button.
  4. Select the character you want to redefine in the list then Tab to the Edit character... button and press Enter.
  5. You will be prompted to enter a new description for this character value. You could type in an individual alphanumeric or punctuation symbol, or a descriptive phrase. Tab to the OK button and press Enter when you're done.
  6. Once you've defined all of the characters that you want to change from their default values, Tab to the OK button and press Enter. You will be returned to the Translation Tables dialog box.
Deleting a translation table.

To delete a translation table:

  1. Select the table you want to remove in the list box.
  2. Tab to the Delete translation table... button and press Enter.
  3. You will be prompted to confirm the removal of the table. If you answer "Yes", the table will be removed from the list box.
